The oasis of Biskra

Huge palm grove, large irrigated areas, dams, the city has since its foundation in the eleventh century by the Zibans, everything done to fertilize this piece of desert. Between modern city and the preserved medina, Biskra is today, with its orchards, its 150,000 date trees producing the famous Deglet Nour, a prosperous city. The French writer André Gide stayed there for a few months, during which he began his book « Terrestrial Foods ».
Tolga
Located 40 kilometers west of Biskra, the oasis of Tolga, irrigated by artesian wells, also produces the famous Deglet Nour which is packaged on the spot before being exported.
