Mountain and Environmental Tourism in Algeria
Mountains, forests, biodiversity, and open landscapes create routes for walking, camping, climbing, and winter discovery.

Algeria’s mountain landscapes include the Tell Atlas, Saharan Atlas, Aurès, Kabylia, and the high reliefs around the Hoggar and Tassili. Forests, gorges, plateaus, and snow-prone highlands offer a different view of the country beyond the coast and desert.
Activities with local knowledge
Hiking, trekking, camping, climbing, canyoning, wildlife observation, and snow sports are possible in suitable places and seasons. Routes should be selected with local guides, park rules, weather information, and realistic fitness levels.
Protect the landscape
Carry water, use established paths and campsites, avoid disturbing wildlife, and take waste back out. Fire restrictions, access permissions, and weather can change quickly, especially in remote or high-elevation areas.
