High plateaus and Aurès
Interior locations such as Batna, Timgad, and Sétif have greater temperature ranges than the coast. Summers can be hot and winters cold, with frost or snow possible at elevation.
Sahara
For Djanet, Tamanrasset, Timimoun, Ghardaïa, and Taghit, the principal season is October–March. Desert sun remains strong, while temperatures can fall rapidly after sunset. Summer expeditions may be unsafe and are often impractical.
Ramadan, holidays, and festivals
During Ramadan, daytime restaurant hours and public schedules may change, while evenings become more active. Religious and national holidays can affect transport and opening times. Festival dates should be confirmed through official organisers before travel.
